The story's settings include a house, an office, a restaurant, a mall, and a church. The event took place during the 21st century. The story begins in Jessica's house, specifically in the kitchen. It appears in lines 5–14 of paragraphs 1-2. She attempts to make sense of the information swirling about in her head. Including the news that she is having a child and the things; she can see in the newspaper that is placed next to the toast plate. The key events took place at work, as can be seen in paragraph 12–17, line 19–41, where she is speaking with Pocholo about its forecast of an earthquake signaling the end of the world. At the same time, we can observe in paragraph 19, lines 46-47, that she is also wondering if she might question Wilma about the address of her abortionist. The critical events at the mall are also described in lines 15–27 of paragraphs 37–38. She expresses her concerns about punishment, saying that she has been such a good girl, too, until recently, so she would probably get extra punishment for being such a disappointment. On the other side, she creates a mental list of the benefits and drawbacks of having the kid in paragraphs 39–40, lines 29–41. The pro includes her mother's intuition; the con consists of the burden, the social stigma associated with childbirth without a husband, and her paranoia. In the end, the story takes place in Jessica's home, where it also starts. Lines 35–38 of paragraph 72 demonstrate it. She concluded that perhaps the signals Pocholo and his aunt had noticed were accurate. She reflected on a terrible time it must have been to be born just as the world was about to end. She also feels that a mother should not plan to have her child removed when everything is working against her. SETTING: At the House At the office At the Restaurants
At the Mall At the Church 21st century WHERE ACTION BEGINS: The whole story starts in the house of Jessica, particularly in Kitchen. Here, she is trying to make sense of the stuff whirling around in her head, such as a vision of blood and umbilical cords and feeding bottles. An image of a dead Kurdish woman holding the body of her dead child was next to a newspaper article on the use of toxic gas in the Iraq wars that was lying next to the toast platter. The page where it is described: Paragraph 1-2, line 5- WHERE THE KEY EVENTS HAPPENED: The key events happened at the office, where she is talking to Pocholo about its prediction of an earthquake signaling the world's end. Stating that his aunts showed a vision of a horseman in the sky in Taal, the same vision her aunt saw before World War II. The page where it is described: Paragraph 12-17, line 19- At the same time, she is also wondering if she can ask Wilma about the address of her abortionist. The page where it is described: Paragraph 19, lines 46- At the Mall, she saw an outfit that looked like her uniform at the Academy of Our Lady's Seven Sorrows—a white blouse, blue neckties, and a navy-blue skirt—only the skirt was too short. She remembers that if your knees were exposed, the nuns would give you a lecture on modesty. Moreover, this comes from her thoughts about punishment, stating that she has been such a good girl, too, until recently, so she would probably get extra punishment for being such a disappointment.
