John locke, an english political philosopher, is renowned for his influential works on human rights and modern liberalism. His essay 'a letter concerning toleration' advocated for religious freedom, while his 'two treatises of government' questioned totalitarianism and challenged thomas hobbes' concept of the state of nature and the need for absolute authority. These works shaped english rule and western politics.

John Locke is an English political philosopher who became one of the most influencial figures pertaining to Human Rights and to Modern Liberalism. His work that made him an advocate of the Freedom of Belief in his Essay called A Letter Concerning Toleration helped in terms having the freedom of choosing their own distinctive religion to believe in without imposing a ruling religion to others. And in his book the Two Treaties of Government where this focuses on how the government should be ruled and who should rule and questions further current belief of how authority on the masses was chosen by God himself. The first treaty talks about how Locke questions totalitarianism and Divine Rule over the masses. The second treaty would then tackle on Thomas’ Hobbes State of Nature which he basically disagrees mostly, mainly to Hobbes’ concept of the fear of the masses that the people has to fearfully surrender their rights to the authority. Two of his great works has shaped the minds of not only the English rule but also has influenced on Western politics and Liberalism. We will first tackle the concepts and ideas in his written works to furthermore understand his political thought.
