Reflection – Analysis of your Written Feedback and Ratings

When it comes to performance, the group believes that compared to others in my group, I finish more work than expected. I finish the work of others when they are busy or unable to perform. There is a singular group member that does not believe I am working enough, but the majority believes I have a good workflow and am doing what is required of me as a group member. They believe my strengths are open-mindedness with good organizational skills, this allows me to set the group up for situations that they are uncertain of. It seems that when it comes to my role in the group, the feedback dictates that I sound somewhat like an assistant leader, as in my position most of my Week 1 6 feedback indicates that my impact on the group is that my research outside of the studio promotes other members to do their own work as well, it seems that the feedback given to me is that I have a charismatic role in the team. A portion of the feedback given in the impact section of Week 16 is “Sharing external research with us all helps to bring up the knowledge of every group member in meetings. The group feels confident with your contributions to the projects and the team is able to work more efficiently”, which implies the group can work better with me bringing in my own work whether I am right or wrong. The shortening of feedback from mixed thoughts to almost entirely positive feedback is proof enough that the team is more than satisfied with my work. I agree with the feedback to an extent, as I do believe that I do have pros, there are cons I can work on as well, although I put in the effort, effort does not always produce results. I believe my group was not hard enough on me, as everyone can improve in at least one way. The” Try to be a little more assertive, we respect, and we want to hear what you have to say” part of the feedback was good, as I do believe I can speak up more. Compared to other members, I believe my work is on par with them as we all have our cons, but I do believe I perform better than Matteo and Anthony, as both do not contribute that much compared to Yazan, Collin, and I.

Reflection – Personal Plan of Future Behaviour

The way I will proceed with my behavior based on the feedback given by my group is that I will try to be more communicative than I already am, the steps I will take to achieve this goal is to start messaging and initiating the meetings in the group more often through Facebook Messenger. In-studio meetings, I will try to talk up more and be more on task with my speech as the critique could come from slight moments where I get off track. When it comes to me sharing my thoughts whether I am right or wrong, I do have my moments where I am too scared to speak up because I am afraid of rejection and failure. Those should not be a reason why I don’t talk, they should be a reason to talk, as failing is a building block to success. To conclude, I will be better in terms of assertion by making sure that my voice is heard whether I am right or wrong because in cases where I am wrong my team can help me out, I will talk more in-studio meetings and message more on Facebook. A team is made up of members and not a singular member, me talking up in more situations allows both me and my teammates to rely on each other.
