Below are among the functions of campus journalism. Choose two (2), search and submit
examples of these two functions. Then write your own article relative to 1 of the 2 chosen
functions. Observe originality and authenticity.

Information Function
Providing information is one of the main primary functions of journalism. It gives the
readers information concerning the things around the community and within the school.
For example, is the Covid-19 situation. Journalists would provide the audience with regular
information about the number of infected, deaths and recovery.
Education Function
Education function is one of the most important functions of the campus paper. Its
main purpose is to educate. Tabooed topics such as sex, sex education, family planning
and the like are some of the extensively and intensively discussed by writers of campus
papers. Example for this function is about the Covid-19 situation. The readers must be
educated and should be made aware of how to avoid transmission of the virus. For
example, washing your hands, wearing masks and face shield, and avoid touching the
face. These are some guidelines that is provided or mentioned by the journalists repeatedly.
