- an Italian scholar and explorer that accompanied Magellan, and one of the survivors in the expedition.
- He wrote the First Voyage Around the World
- His book became the earliest detailed documentation of the pre-colonial society.

Duarte Barbosa (1480 - 1521)
- chieftain and ruler of Mactan in the Visayas region of the Philippines. He is considered to be the first Filipino hero to have successfully resisted foreign rule. - was a Portuguese writer and officer from Portuguese India (between 1500 and 1516). He was a scrivener in a feitoria in Kannur, and an interpreter of the local language, Malayalam. (possibly 1491-1521)
- was a Portuguese cartographer and explorer. He sailed at the service of Castile (Spain) in the fleet of Ferdinand Magellan, but deserted the expedition when they had reached the Strait of Magellan and returned to Spain in May 1521.

The First Voyage Around the World by Antonio Pigafetta
was written on board in one of the five ships that was first
to circumnavigate the world during an expedition that was
led by the Portuguese explorer, Ferdinand Magellan, and
after his death during the voyage, it was led by Juan
Sebastian Elcano. The expedition started in 1519 and ended
in Spain in 1522.
The book details the voyage of Magellan along with
Pigafetta which are mainly composed of their
experiences aboard the ship, their experiences during
their voyage and their experiences to the different
countries and islands in the world.
Ferdinand Magellan is a Portuguese explorer that moved
to Spain after his request to explore was denied. He
requested to the King of Spain to use the West route
(Treaty of Tordesillas), then return using the East route.
Magellan also proposed to the King of Spain that he
will use the West route to set foot on the Spice
Islands of Moluccas (East Asia)

Massacre of Europeans in the island of Cebu, including
Duarte Barbosa and twenty-four shipmates. At this time,
the Concepción is abandoned.
May 1, 1521 Duarte Barbosa Enrique de Malacca
Victoria and Trinidad depart Palawan. They arrived at
Brunei on the north-eastern coast of Borneo on 9 July.
